This course focuses on creating a complete foliage pack using Blender and importing it into Unreal Engine 5. The curriculum covers modeling techniques from basic planes to build 12 different types of vegetation, including grass, flowers, reeds, and water lilies, resulting in over 30 asset variations. Workflows prioritize low-poly modeling for performance optimization while maintaining a stylized visual approach.
Students learn to use Blender's particle systems and weight painting for natural asset placement, alongside texture painting workflows utilizing custom alpha brushes, cavity masking, and various map types. The training also includes instructions on animating the foliage with wind and turbulence in Blender, preparing the models with proper UV mapping, and setting up materials and wind movement systems within Unreal Engine 5.
