The Material Preview addon provides a fast way to isolate and view specific material channels across selected objects in the 3D viewport. By automatically rerouting node connections, it allows users to switch between viewing the base color, metallic, roughness, and normal map outputs with a single click. This functionality applies to both texture-based and procedural materials, provided the node tree terminates in a single Principled BSDF node before the material output.
Alongside channel isolation, the tool includes several shading utilities. Users can generate a procedural checker map, assign random colors to individual materials for clear visual separation, and flip the green channel of normal maps. Workflow management features include the ability to reduce texture resolution in memory by half, map specific UV coordinates to all textures, and selectively reload image files for either the active object or the entire scene.
