Shatter Cut

Shatter Cut is an Edit Mode tool that randomly slices selected faces to quickly generate surface topology. The tool cuts a random face on a random edge, creating a slice 90 degrees perpendicular to the opposite edge. This randomized pattern serves as a foundation for further modeling operations like extrusions or insets to build complexity.

The tool is particularly useful for creating sci-fi exterior surfaces, spaceship hulls, and general greeble details. It functions on both flat geometry and curved or sculpted meshes. Users can customize the generated patterns through a dedicated settings panel, which includes controls for the number of cuts, a random seed, and a minimum distance limit to space out the slices.

Additional parameters allow for specific stylistic variations. A tilt option randomly angles the slices to mimic shattered glass or fractured rock formations. An irregular size setting increases the variation in the resulting face areas, producing more chaotic, high-tech surface details.
