The Plating Generator generates customized, reconfigurable panel lines and greeble details on flat or curved surfaces. It is designed to automate the process of creating interlocking panels and hull details onto base 3D models using customizable patterns and a random seed.
The tool operates on quad-based meshes, allowing generation across a whole object or a sub-selection of faces. Users have control over panel heights, groove depth and thickness, corner rounding, and beveling effects. Greebles can be scattered using either out-of-the-box standard objects or custom user libraries. Patterns and details generated as separate objects remain editable via a control panel, while vertex colors provide a method for varying material output.
