This 16-bit displacement map of the Moon is derived from data gathered by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The height map covers the entire lunar surface with a maximum resolution of 92160 by 46080. Due to the nature of the projection, surface accuracy decreases closer to the poles. The map is designed for creating detailed planetary imagery and close-up renders of craters, hills, and plateaus.
