Real Caustics

Real Caustics is a Blender add-on for generating physically plausible light caustic textures from animated water surfaces. It targets the visual gap between convincing water geometry and missing underwater light interaction by producing shimmer patterns that follow wave motion across frames.

The workflow is bake-first: generate caustics for the current frame for rapid iteration, then bake a full sequence for final rendering. Because the result is texture-based after generation, runtime render overhead stays minimal while preserving animated behavior tied to the source mesh or displacement setup.

It supports both Cycles and Eevee, works with fluid simulations, ocean modifiers, dynamic paint, and mesh-driven surfaces, and provides controls for intensity, blur, depth handling, near-plane behavior, dispersion, and tiling-ready output workflows.
