PixelAlchemy is a collection of custom assets for Blender's Compositor designed to apply retro and stylized effects to renders. The package includes tools for both dithering and ASCII conversion, utilizing the asset system introduced in Blender 4.0.

The dithering component utilizes procedural Bayer matrix patterns to create retro-style shading and texture. It includes controls for threshold, softness, and color depth, allowing for customization of the patterned output.

The ASCII filter converts images into text-based representations using 16 distinct brightness levels. It features built-in ASCII and halftone atlases, with support for custom 16-character atlases. The density, scale, and brightness mapping can be adjusted to control the final appearance.
