DemBones

An integration of the open-source DemBones algorithm for Blender. It provides an automated process to convert mesh deformations, such as cloth or water simulations, into standard bone animations.

The tool is primarily used for baking animated deformations for export to game engines, generating or improving skin weights on existing rigged models, and baking deformation cages or corrective smooth modifiers. It supports advanced features from the original project, including demLock for solving helper bones and utilizing vertex colors for partial skinning solutions. Workflows include converting mesh sequences to bone animations and weights, refining existing weights based on sequences and bone animations, or extracting bone animations from sequences and weights.
