AI Compositor is a scene setup tool that streamlines the process of integrating 3D object renders into 2D backgrounds. Users can provide background images by uploading their own, selecting from built-in presets, or generating new images directly within the 3D Viewport using text prompts via Replicate, Siliconflow, or ComfyUI APIs.

Once an image is selected, the add-on automatically configures the scene to match the background scene. It generates and applies an HDRI environment map derived from the image, positions a sun lamp matching the apparent lighting direction, and configures camera resolution and focal length. It also generates a square or circular shadow catcher for ground plane integration and sets up a basic node tree for Cycles compositing with AgX color management. The tool is best suited for compositing small-scale objects within a 0.5-meter scale.
