BAM AutoMat is a tool designed for the batch creation and updating of materials directly from texture folders. It streamlines the process of importing large material libraries, particularly when transitioning assets from external texturing software like Substance Designer. The add-on generates or updates materials by reading subfolders, utilizing custom suffix rules, and applying correct color spaces automatically.
The tool optimizes scenes by preventing the creation of duplicate texture data-blocks. It identifies materials based on the presence of BaseColor textures and allows users to define custom packaged maps, such as ARM, by selecting specific color channels. Additionally, it features a Material Manager that provides selection tools by material across objects and faces, bulk replacement functions, and cleanup operations to remove unused material slots and resolve duplicate materials.
