Trimflow is an add-on that enables the non-destructive placement of repeating patterns, such as ornaments or stitches, onto objects. It functions by allowing users to draw a curve directly onto a mesh surface, converting trim textures into decals. These decals remain fully editable, allowing for subsequent adjustments, duplication, or texture swapping.
The tool includes an integrated baking system that converts trim decals into masks. These masks are suitable for material creation within Blender or for export to external software like Substance 3D or Marmoset Toolbag. Additionally, decals can be blended with the target object's material using shader configurations, enabling non-destructive rendering without the need to bake.
Trimflow supports specialized trims featuring dedicated head and tail pieces, connected by a seamless, tiling segment. This prevents patterns from ending abruptly. The add-on includes several trim sheets and supports conventional trims from existing libraries. Included examples provide insight into practical applications.
