Strands

Strands is a Geometry Nodes asset library providing modular modifiers to generate, manipulate, and mesh curve objects. The collection allows users to construct non-destructive procedural setups for creating ropes, chains, wires, and other flexible objects.

The library is divided into four categories: Placers for generating initial curve shapes like hanging power lines or dropped cables, Filters for adding or smoothing details like sag and waviness, Appenders for wrapping secondary strands around primary ones, and Meshers for converting the curves into renderable geometry such as braids or chains. It features a custom tagging system to manage multiple strands within a single object independently.

Alongside the 20 modular node setups, the library includes a procedural rope material and 15 base curve models for various knot types. The modifiers output vertex colors and shader IDs for material setup. While some tools utilize simulation nodes, they are designed primarily for static modeling rather than animation.
