Flared2 provides a real-time procedural lens flare system for EEVEE and Cycles. The tool operates directly in the viewport, allowing users to adjust flare properties and evaluate the results without needing to use the compositor. The system supports both 2D screen-space scaling and 3D distance-aware scaling modes.
The system utilizes obstacle detection capabilities, allowing flares to correctly occlude behind scene geometry based on specified collections. Flare generation is highly customizable, featuring modular generators for effects such as point glows, ghosts, horizontal streaks, hoops, halos, starbursts, sun rays, lens dirt, and blinking entirely procedurally. It allows unlimited flares to be stacked to construct custom visual layouts.
The tool is supplied with a library of over sixty customizable presets. Users can manage, save, and export their custom flare setups. Render farm compatibility is designed so that the flare geometry renders without needing the addon installed on remote nodes. It additionally provides settings to render flares on isolated passes for independent compositing alongside the surrounding scene elements.
