AutoQuad Baker

AutoQuad Baker is an add-on that streamlines the high-poly to low-poly workflow by providing a dedicated four-step menu in the 3D viewport. It integrates the Instant Meshes algorithm to automatically generate quad or triangle topology, offering features like hard edge detection and voxel hole-fixing. The pipeline allows for iterative vertex count adjustments without generating duplicate meshes.

The tool guides users through a structured progression covering retopology, mesh cleanup, UV unwrapping, and texture baking. The cleanup functions provide one-click solutions for fixing shading normals, filling holes, merging vertices, and symmetrizing topology. For baking, the add-on removes the need to manually configure image nodes, automatically building materials and applying the baked textures for normal, ambient occlusion, base color, and glossy maps. Note that the add-on requires the external Instant Meshes executable to be downloaded and placed in the add-on folder.
