Packfold is an addon that automates the process of converting flat 2D DXF diecuts into fully rigged, foldable 3D packaging models. It generates a structured mesh directly from an imported DXF file without requiring manual modeling, setting folds precisely based on the 2D layout.
The tool includes a one-click auto-rigging system that detects fold lines, generates an armature, and applies weight painting. Users simply select the front or base face of the packaging, and the addon calculates the hierarchical parenting logic to ensure panels fold in the correct physical order.
For animation, the addon provides intuitive sliders to control individual face rotations alongside grouped panel controls for the right, left, top, and bottom sections. Every folding parameter is keyframeable, facilitating the creation of assembly sequences, unboxing animations, and exploded product presentations.
