VDMs (vector displacement maps) are a new feature introduced in 2023 in Blender. It allows the flexibility of alpha maps when sculpting, while providing much more convicing results.

These VDMs are specifically designed to represent details found in reptiles or dragons. If you've ever felt scared at the idea of sculpting every last scale or thorn for your creatures, this is the perfect tool to solve that issue.
